Shannon and Shanon In Every Lifetime

Shannon and Shanon celebrated their wedding on November 2, 2024 (a year after their private ceremony) at Penn Oaks Golf Club with all of their family and friends. Shannon handmade all of the wooden florals and chose a beautiful gothic color scheme for their reception. There were many poignant moments throughout the day that brought the congregation to tears: vows promising multiple lifetimes of love and devotion, heartfelt speeches from their family and friends, and the groom Shanon sang one of their favorite songs to his bride. I loved every minute of this wedding because you could tell the bride and groom meant so much to not only each other, but everyone there. Sometimes you can just feel it, this one was special.

Defeating FOMO: Don't regret not getting Wedding Video

There are a lot of reasons that people can be on the fence about video. Whether it’s concerns about seeing or hearing yourself on camera, fitting it in your budget, or not being sure why you need video, it’s common for video to be one of the last big decisions made about a wedding day.

Let’s break down why you need video, and why it’s not scary.

  1. it only happens once

    • Your vows, the speeches and toasts at your reception - these words will quickly fade from memory if you don’t have them on video. For most of us, this is the only time in our lives we will have all our friends and family together in one place, and the meaning of that gathering only grows with time.

  2. your investment pays dividends

    • When you get video, you get to capture and relive all of the details that you put so much work and money into. Your flowers, decor, clothes, your band or DJ can all come to life again every time you watch your video, extending ‘just one day’ into decades of memories.

  3. Hire a videographer you can trust

    • If you hire someone you can trust, the concerns about the way we are perceived in an age of social media can be handled with grace. No need to worry about hot mics, unflattering angles, or looking too silly dancing if your videographer allows you to submit comments and changes to your wedding film before it is finalized. Not all videographers do this, but the good ones do, so definitely ask! We always include a full round of adjustments made in a timely manner before films are finalized. Any problematic shots can be taken out of a film. Also, by reviewing their sample films you should look for a range of body types, ages, skin colors to see how they handle and portray different people. Some photographers and videographers only show off hired models and styled shoots, but you should be able to see yourself in their work as well.

You know yourselves best, if video will mean that you get to hold onto the joy of your wedding day, then defeat the FOMO.

Seth and Kristin's "The Office" Spoof Wedding Video

We proudly present The Wedding of Kristin and Seth, a spoof of NBC’s @theoffice, their favorite show. We were so excited when Kristin and Seth came to us with this unconventional idea for their wedding video, and we loved making it happen for them, as a work of fan art as well as a document of their sweet wedding day. Kristin’s sister Cameron took on the Michael Scott role, and Seth’s best man Alex became our Dwight Schrute, along with the improvisations and talking heads of many of their friends and family. It was a challenge to try to form a narrative and come up with bits all on the day of, but I am proud of how it came out after working out the comedic timing in post.

Liz and Emmerich

Liz and Emmerich are probably the most overwhelmingly genuine and sweet human beings we have ever met. Their wedding day was filled with laughs, nerdy references, happy tears, and as they wrote in their pre-wedding questionnaire a “hedonistic level of queer energy!” They donned matching suits, rocked bright red hair, and made their vows to each other at The Smithville Inn, in Smithville, New Jersey. It was our honor to document the union of these two brooms, and to be a part of the energetic celebration that followed.

Introducing Nightjar Pictures

A quick intro to our new blog! Although we officially launched Nightjar Pictures in March of 2020, the timing was less than ideal to share weddings with folks, as everyone were soon forced to cancel and reschedule their weddings. Now that we’ve had a good amount of time of wedding being able to safely move forward, we have some wonderful shoots that we’ve done to share with you. If you’d like to see some of our older work, you can check out the blog from our previous brand name, Sky Orphan Productions.

Nightjar Pictures is a new name, a new face, but the same quality and attention to detail that we’ve always put into our work. We hope you enjoy!
